Seremban, Rembau Hit by Flash Flood

SEREMBAN – 10 settlements in the state involving two districts namely Seremban and Rembau were hit by flash floods starting late this afternoon.

The Deputy Director of the Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM) Negeri Sembilan, LT Col (PA) Shamil Ithman said, in the Seremban district, the settlements in four state assemblies (DUN) were affected, namely in Seremban, Ampangan, Nilai and Sikamat.

According to him, until 8 o’clock last night, the areas affected by flooding were Kampung Ismail, Semarak, Blok C and B Ampangan, Jiboi, Taman Happy, Kampung Batu 3, Kampung Kuala Sawah and Angsamas Batu 5.

“In this incident, we received at about 7.05pm from penghulu and members of the public regarding flooding in several locations in the Seremban area.

“Therefore, as many as three teams were split up to survey, rescue and monitor the water level in the affected areas in the weather that is still raining,” he told reporters, here, today.

Meanwhile in Rembau, Shamil said, a village in Kota state assembly, namely Kampung Titian Bintangor, was affected by flash floods and the rain was still heavy in the area until 8 o’clock last night.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Seremban District Disaster Committee, Mohamad Najib Mustafa said, based on a report from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS), the water level of Sungai Linggi in Kampung Linsum recorded an upward trend.

“The current water level reading recorded is 11.38 meters which is at a dangerous level compared to the normal level of 7 meters and there is still an upward trend.

“Meanwhile, the water level of Sungai Linggi in Dusun Nyior recorded at the warning level of 44.53m, but there is a downward trend.
