RTB Sungai Jelai Able to Solve the Flooding Problem in Johol

JOHOL, June 5 – Land surveying and land investigation works for the Sungai Jelai Flood Mitigation Plan (RTB) project are being actively carried out along the length of Sungai Jelai.

Negeri Sembilan DPS Director, Ir. Ts. Abd. Hakim Hamzah said that the land ownership date of the RTB Sungai Jelai project had started on 22 January 2024 and was expected to end on 21 January 2029.

He explained that with the implementation of the project, he was able to solve the flood problem in the flood ‘Hotspot’ area, namely Rumah Rakyat Kampung Johol, Kampung Orang Asli Carik, Kampung Orang Asli Kelapi and Jalan Tampin Karak, Kuala Johol.

“The stage in the implementation is that at the preliminary design stage on June 12, the contractor will present us with a design proposal and when it is agreed, then the detailed design will begin and take six months. If there is land repossession, it will be completed first if the area is not involved in repossession. construction land will start simultaneously”, he said when met by RTM here.

Earlier, five Flood Mitigation Plan (RTB) projects in Negeri Sembilan were approved by the Federal Government and will be implemented from the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, thus will be able to overcome the frequent flooding problems in some areas.

Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Utama Aminuddin Harun is reported to have said that it involves the Integrated River Basin Development Project of Sungai Pedas, Rembau, RTB Sungai Raya and RTB Sungai Solok in Port Dickson, RTB Sungai Jelai, Kuala Pilah and the Integrated River Basin Development Project of Sungai Linggi, Fasa Five from Rantau to Ampangan in Seremban.
