SEREMBAN: Residents in Negeri Sembilan, especially those in the 120 hotspot locations where floods occur in the state, are asked to always be prepared and aware of the rain conditions during the current onset of the North East Monsoon.
Director of the Departmen of Irrigation and Drainage Negeri Sembilan (JPS), Ir. Saari Abdullah said, although the flood situation in the state is still under control, residents still need to take precautions, including being aware of the sound of flood warning sirens.
“I ask residents to be aware of the rain conditions, rising river water levels, the sound of flood warning sirens that have now been installed at 27 stations across the state, they can also refer to the JPS website to find out the current developments,” he said when contacted by Utusan Malaysia. here.
Meanwhile, he said, the river maintenance works carried out by his side, including projects to deepen several river stems through reciprocal cooperation with the private sector, are now seen to be having a positive effect.
He explained, it is when there are fewer incidents of flash floods, especially in areas that previously had frequent disasters, especially in this area.
“Alhamdulillah, river maintenance works that are often carried out such as cleaning obstacles in the river as well as river deepening projects through reciprocal cooperation with the private sector have shown results,” he added.
In the meantime, Saari told that the area in this state was not affected by the flood incident as happened in several areas in the neighboring state, namely Selangor recently.
“There have been incidents of flooding like in Nilai town, but it is under control and quickly subsides compared to areas in neighboring states,” he added.
